Is anyone else having good luck running the 520 drive chain. I finished my second season on one. It is working fine. I commute 50 miles a day plus about every where else I go during the Riding season. The commute is flat (no Hills). My speedometer has been out this summer, but have at least 13000 on this chain total and 18-33 sprockets. I Lubed it weekly with belray chain lube. And will be sticking with this size in the future and will down size the rear 1 or 2 more teeth next go around. javascript:emoticon('post',%20'message',%20':D')

I have been considering switching to the 520 chain. What brand of chain & sprockets did you use? Also, did you remove the protector from the shift shaft when you went to the 18T front sprocket? Thanks.

| You have to remove the protector when using an 18 tooth up front which can be a pain with those stator wires running through that area

Just make a bracket from strap or hard wire connected to one of the bolts down there to hold (push) the wire out of the way......some need to relieve a bit of the top of shift shaft some don't.......on mine I did.....all of this 18t mod is stone simple................loctite blue on the sprocket nut and use lock tab......

I used the Izumi Heavy-Duty O-ring Chain, with sprockets from mikes XS.
For sure the Shaft Guard must come off. If you keep the chain Adjusted its not a problem. And to keep adjustments down keep it cleaned and lubed every 300 miles it said on the box. I wipe it down and spray some more lube on it. It has rarely needed adjusted so far But probably time to start thinking about a new one.
And as John said easy to do and a lot funner to Ride geared up.
