has anyone cut 3 angle valve seats and if so is it worth doing,I know it works great on cars but was wondering about the xs.Thanks

I think thats how they were done at the factory. I would do it that way. I don't think the 7 angle valve job would be worth the effort.

3 angle seats are what was used stock, they are all thats needed on a stock head. If your going to get serious about head work and flows then mayby you would look at 5 and or seven angle seats. But there is nothing gained if you dont make the head capable of flowing to begin with. Even then I dont think a seven angle cut would show any additional flows over a 5. In my opinion the biggest bang for the buck in a 650 yamaha is porting the motor and useing a good free flowing exhaust with good performance carburators. This will surprise most people. Everything else is optional, Big bore kits, cams, ignitions, etc optional. But heads, fuel, and exhaust are needed.
