Hi,
I am a complete newbie in the Yamaha XS world. I hope I am on the correct forum.
I recently got into it when I saw a Bratstyle bike and would love to build one of my own. So I began my quest for a secondhand XS650.
I want a very good bike to begin with as my mechanical skills are not huge. I found this one (see pic), its engine is just rebuild, all bearings have been changed, wheels sandblasted and coated, etc .....
I don't like the tank, seat, etc ...but I think it is a very good base for my project (respray tank, lower the rear, lower front, powdercoat wheels, change the seat, clip-ons, chop rear fender, ....)
I am alot inspired by the style that www.wrenchmonkees.com are doing.
Now my first question pls.
The framenumber is 2F0 160 887 , can somebody tell me what year and model this is please, I checked the model ID chart but I am hesitating.
What do you think about the bike ? Do you think its a solid base ?
Thanks,

If you decide to make changes, I'd be interested in the seat and rear tailamp/license assembly and possibly the mufflers. Looking forward to see your brat build, keep the pics coming. Email me at cycleryder02 @ aol.com if you decide to sell those parts.

I know you have your vision, but that thing is SWEET the way it sits,ESPECIALLY the seat and exhaust.I'm having hard enough time deciding whether to chop my basket case or not.Once you start, there ain't no turnin' back.

i think this bike looks like some one but alot of time and love into her already and you should think about finding another bike to chop up dont get me wrong but it seems harder and harder to find bikes like that a round here in the northeast its your bike do as you will and have fun
