I will re-wiring my bike and I am wondering where should I place my kill switch. Can I wire it between the battery and the ignition switch? Or should it be placed in the wiring of the coil (ie wire it so it shuts off power to the coil?) i am running a boyer..don't know if that matters?

Thanks

Dave

either would work but sometimes (middle of a dark night on a twisty road) you might need to kill the ignition with out shutting off the lights,... break the coil hot wire circuit

islanddave,

The stock kill switch will not handle the current of the full load of the bike, especially the headlight and tail light circuits. It was designed to only handle the current of the ignition system.

If you wire the ignition switch so it only cuts off the battery, the engine will keep running on the alternator when you turn the switch off and the regulator will go nuts and fry everything on the bike.

I just had sombody do that. The engine didn't stop untill all the lights were burned out and the PAMCO finaly quit because it was fried.

ight be a good idea for you to post your wiring diagram for a critique.
