I just installed a new one piece clutch pushrod from mikesxs. but it doesnt reach all the way to the side cover.
i have a few questions because my removal of the of push rods was not manual specifications.
when i removed the small outer push rod there were two ball bearings behind it. Is there supposed to be a ball bearing inside the hole of the side cover?
also no ball bearing came out after the second push rod so i assumed it was still in there.
Any ideas why its too short?

With the 2 short pushrods there is a total of 3 ballbearings. With the long pushrod there is a total of 2 ballbearings With the long pushrod you should have one ball in the clutch actuator worm gear, and one at the inner end of the long pushrod.
The long pushrod should protrude 1 and 15/16" inches from the case/seal, if you have the one ballbearing at the inner end of the pushrod.

ok just to make sure:
in the picture the left side of the rod comes out of the left side of the engine and the right side goes towards to the clutch side.
that smaller rod on the right side is the worm gear?
and the one piece push rod shouldnt meet the left engine side cover since it only comes out about 2 inches
let me know if i got that right

The small "T" rod (actually resembles a vavle) on the right is the piece that pushes against the clutch to disengage it. If you had the clutch out and forgot to reinstall that piece it would account for the long rod being to short to reach the actuator on the left side cover

If the new long rod and ball is installed and it's not reaching the side cover then somthing in there is missing.

it measures at 1 5/8 eighths...maybe there isnt a ball inside. I wanna say its that since i see no other cause, but...idk. Um also a ball goes inside the the actuator right?

Yea, there should be a ball in the acuator, but it should not be able to come out.
The pushrod installs as follows:
From right to left..... clutch throw out, ball, pushrod, acuator.

It shouldn't, it's meant to stay in there. If it is worn enough to let the ball fall out then you should probably replace the entire acuator assembly.

5twins:
y thinking in replacing the acuator is that having been worn enough to let the ball fall out then the worm gear is most likely worn as well. Not a must do, just a suggestion.

Yes, the worm is what makes it function, clean it and grease it well or you will get a hard pull at the handle.
ikes acuator....Part #39-6518
Also check ebay for them

quick question. Im guessing there is no ball inside before the push rod. dont know how it escaped but thats my guess. if im wrong will two balls on that end ruined it? Also should i use oil or grease to lubricate the rod? im guessing oil.

Do you even own a shop manual or parts book?

yes i do in facts. Im just trying to understand how the two part push rod system worked fine and the one piece does not even though the ball bearing in the inside never came out. guess ill try and figure it out myself. thanks.
