Anyone have a titled frame for sale. I have a 79 frame but no title. Trying to avoid the hassles of getting it titled and really don't know where to start the process.

Go to the tag office and have them run the VIN number, they should give you the name and address of the last registered owner. They may also have a current address for him by checking for his currently registered vehicles. Write a letter or call him and I'm sure you'll get an interesting conversation along with the signature you need for the title transfer.
Worked for me.

One drawback.... if it was ever stolen you have just opened up a can of worms.

I bought the one I have off ebay and understood at the time it didn't come with a title. It came here from another state. Arizona is the stolen car and motorcycle capital of the USA. I later contacted the guy and he wasn't helpful at all in getting the paperwork straight. In this state you have to have a competed motorcycle ready for inspection before you can think about a title. I haven't tried to run the numbers yet to see if there clean. I want to build a chopper and would like to get a titled bike to avoid that inspection.

I talked to a guy from Boston last summer about a titled frame for a '73 TX, he wanted $400 plus $150 shipping. Two weeks later I bought a complete bike locally for $320. It was supposed to be for parts but I'm now restoring it.

If it shipped from the Left Coast, your State Patrol/Police should be able to plug those numbers into a database and track down its last licensing.

California, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, et al have a reciprocity agreement that requires they link their DMV databases.

BTW, the '79 parts bike I mentioned in our PM exchange is somewhat lacking (the frame has been hacked to bits) so I'm still be considering your frame as a possible alternative.
