with the frame in wait it's time to cut and bend some tube (not pipe!) I made this out of .120wall dom tubing. Tube is structural and pipe is for transfer of fluid and gas, so NO pipe! You may be tempted to use pipe because of cost and availability, don’t.

When making a hardtail I like to make a template and lay down the top rails on that and square it all off for tacking in place, but I forgot to show bending and notching procedure…

Hey there pal lookin good. But with the ability to jig and since you have a tubing notcher, and obviously a pretty high skill level, why not just make a whole frame?

nice to meet you too scott, i guess i know what you mean about bikes building themselves. i'm planning on building a little hardtail bike out of my xs650, and i'm picking up a 73 sportster that i was thinking about doing the same thing. but i just cant make up my mind what parts to use on which bike.
looking foward to seeing what you come up with though.

This bike is 2" shorter then stock! most go the other way, longer, but I want the wheels, tires and motor to look oversized so I will make the frame small for the illusion. Also like I said earlier the neck is raked to 42deg.
