...you have a large assortment of half-fouled NGK's layin around, thinking you might need or re-use them, but don't, and end up throwing them away.

Just skiddin', xsjohn

...you feel like, sometimes, your the only one around that still rides one
...you pull up to a light next to some squid still wet behind the ears, he looks at your XS, and gives a strange look, like, WTF is THAT!!!
...you ride by some baby-boomer on a blinged-out Ultra Classic, he sees your XS and you can almost tell he's thinking, "man, wish I still had that bike".
These are true, personal experiences

you have three 650's in the garage and one in the livingroom and one of them almost runs
you have "3M" on speed dial
you set the slide show on the 650 netherlands web site to check for paint lay out ideas
you beleived the Omar site when it said you could run an ad to find a donor bike and you could put one together for $2500
you ignor "XS john" everytime he says 8:1, knowing it won't "talk" unless it has a little compression

Your neighbors know more about your butt crack than your motorcycle from seeing you bent over it all the time wondering ...WTF.......

You pull up to a stoplight and the guy on the bike next to you says, "that was my first bike."
It has happened six times!

Four of us pull into an ice cream shop where there is a big crowd on the sidewalk. A guy in his 20's immediatley starts walking toward the bikes. He walks right past the 03 Honda , 07 Honda and 07 Kawa, and comes over to chat about my bike. (true story)

............if you believe that an XS1100 is two perfectly good engines.
............if you've given up on the auto turn-signal stop, and use a two-pole one.
............if you can go from the coast to the Bitterroots (600 miles) on 13 gallons of gas, lugging a chair!
............if you check the front brake by listening for the squeak.
............if you think vibrations are God's way of saying, "You're Welcome!"
and finally, if you've had your 1977 XS650D longer than both of your marriages.....

If you have an angry wife, probably because you told her the bike was only $200.00, little did she know the real money comes into play after the purchase!

And a cooler right cylinder I might add...........for all you doubting Toms..
And RG did you ever get that pushrod divit thing resolved.......my clutch is still great for a change.............
And I haven't heard much discussion about the crankcase breather one way valves.......others talked me int trying it and it does work........oil consumption is way down on mine........and connecting the barbs is a better idol..............

RG,
Traveling at around 55 or 60 mph helps, and keeping a light hand on the throttle. I'm not in a hurry.....
And XSJohn is right! I have his needles in the carbs, so she stays C-O-O-L even in the eastern Washington summer!
And I completely agree with John---"barb is a better idol"......

if you have driven 100 feet and are already in 5th gear..
if you look in your rear view mirrors at 5000 rpm and the car behind you looks like a flying saucer...

For the gang here on 650rider, Barb is an american idol.
Yeah John, the dimpled pushrod set-up is working great. Only got 150 kms on the bike, so still early days. Using the ez-pull clutch cable from 650central, and its doing a fine job too.
This year I have gone back to the factory set-up for crankcase breather.
2 tubes off the vent housing directly into the air boxes. Last year I had the 2 tubes running down behind the engine to 2 foam fiters.
I'll be watching the oil consumption, as I put on the kms. That was the big problem last year.
