Its a bargain if you consider the 90% complete, non-running engine that went on UK Ebay yesterday for £446 !I'd buy it..
Arent you Yanks able to re-register bikes like we are here ?)

Nope. If you don't have a clean & clear title, most states won't give you the time of day. I fought with North Carolina until they finally won...it's a shame really.

Thats bad...There would be hardly any old bikes left on our roads if we had that rule.. over here all you have to do prove the age of the frame with a dating letter from Yamaha (or whatever make) or from, say, the XS650 Owners Club , get an M.O.T (a certificate of roadworthiness) & thats it, your bike is issued with a new V5 logbook (same US title?) complete with licence plate number for life ..

Bryant, I'm not trying to insult you here but in reading the ad, the engine, carbs, battery, exhaust and electronics are all missing, is that correct? And you are looking for a starting bid of $500 with no title?...........BG

I just bought a complete (with engine) '79 XS650 for $500. Found it in a local ad paper. Bike was in great shape, ran well, new tires. I took it down the road, checked the compression at 145 psi each side. Non-stock exhaust and bent handlebars (straightened). Even had an inspection sticker. Plan on mounting the motor in my other chassis until my rebuild is complete Smile .

In Vermont vehicles more than 15 years old do not require a title, only a bill of sale.

BigGeorge , I just re-read it twice you could be right..The descriptions vague, Im still not sure if hes advertising the 'whole' bike (motor inc) or not.. Confused
if not ,then no bargain !

XS1961 I'm trying to get confirmation from Bryant as to the exact condition of this motorcycle... If someone bids this bike based on the pictures and the engine, carbs, exhaust, and electronics are missing they are gonna be quite pissed when they go to pick it up........ BG

Ask the Questions and if the answers aren't conclusive file a complaint of false advertising with ebay.....It does work.......Have no time for rip off artists

Bryant may not be intentionally trying to rip anyone off. His description seems to say there is no engine, no exhaust, no carbs, no battery and no electronics but his pictures show a complete bike so something is amiss here............BG

I think he is hoping that someone will bid on the pictures and then he can say that they did not read the description. He says a couple of times to ask questions. I also think he intentional dumbed down the ad.

IMO

Sorry I didn't respond to you guys sooner I was working. I changed the description to make it a little more clear on what isn't included. I took the pictures before teardown.
I can try to take more pictures but its back in the garage covered up right now and i'd have to pull everything out and take more pictures. I can see everyone's point on how it was confusing, but I said in the description to ask me about any concerns of what is and isn't included and I have already answered two people's questions about it.
The 500 starting bid is just based on what it would bring if I part it out. I have watched parts of similar make/model/condition on ebay and know I can get at least that much out of it. I'd rather just sell it as is for 500 than to have to mess with listing all the different individual parts.
I'm an honest guy and there's noone I hate worse than scam artist, theives, etc...
Plus Ebay sent me a thing saying I could have up to 10 free listings before april 15th so I decided to put it up and was in somewhat of a hurry to get it up.
SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION!! jeez

Now if you guys have any more questions feel free to ask me anything.

I didn't read your second post properly or i would have realized you are the owner/seller...........If you can get 500 parting it out then it is worth less as is. Has to be some compensation for the work to strip it down...........down here in Aus where bikes are worth more, a bike missing the motor and electrical parts and a frame that could not be registered (titled) would be worth a couple of hundred, at best.....Sounds to me you are trying to get your money back on whats left of the bike after you have taken the main parts off.........If it to much of a hassle to take some more pictures as it is now then you are selling you potential buyers short............If you want top dollar then do some work
