I am building a 1980 bobber, going to run the electrical in a phony oil tank and mount the reg/rect on the outside under the battery. My question, does the CDI box need air to help cool it like the reg or can I put in inside the tank with the rest of the wiring ? I was not sure if this thing got hot or not. Thanks in advance

Well, it's a TCI (Transistor Controlled Ignition) not a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition). It is mounted under the seat on my XJ550 with no cooling air flow.

Yes, a TCI. What was I thinking ? Thanks for the replies, I think I will go ahead and mount it in the electrical box unless somebody else pings in and tells me that is not a good idea. Ride On.
