How cold does it have to be before we chicken out and sit inside by the fire??
I finally got my motor rebuilt, and got about 100 miles on it the other day when it was good and warm. Ran wonderfully.. And today its 30 Degrees outside. I keep going back and forth between re-checking the timing, and sucking it up and going on a ride, or sitting here with my adult beverage in hand by the fire... I'm thinking 32 is my limit. where is yours??

Well, so far this winter my limit has been about 50 miles in 21 degree weather, clear blue sky, very cold hands and feet, and a beautiful view of the Cascade Mountains ringing the Skagit Valley.
It was great, it was cold, the bike had to thaw by idling for nearly 15 minutes or so because the throttle cable was frozen in the sheath, but after that it worked fine, but I was VERY happy to get home, with the bike safely in the shed, and me outside a hot whiskey punch!
For any serious mileage, even with the third wheel, I want it above freezing!
Way above freezing......

Rode to work at 25 degrees yesterday. Warmed up to 47 for the ride home, shorts and T shirt weather.

9 degrees last week, 13 miles to work... I think it was in the 20's for the ride home. My general guideline is 'if it starts, I'm riding it' I only chicken out if there is ice on the road or it's snowing/sleeting.
Yes... I have another vehicle to drive, but then I miss riding...

I moved to southeast Virginia from western Pennsylvania in 1976. Sold my car when I got here and haven't owned one since. I commute 60 miles a day regardless of the weather. Last winter, we got a couple inches of snow, which is a big deal here.
When I got to work, my son called me from his job, asking if I rode the dual sport in to work. I said yes and he said "I figgered it had to be you. They just had a call in segment on the radio looking for the "stupidest things you saw in the snowstorm this morning." The first call was about some nut on the interstate on a bright yellow motorcycle."
Fortunately, thanks to my riding suit, no one saw the police uniform....

Did a 2 hour last week in 28 degree weather and hour there and an hour back. I have to admit that I regret it and had to stop halfway at a gas station and put my hands under hot water. Just like Bkmarsha I was kind of wondering if I was going to find out I had frostbite on my hands.

A trick I use for my hands : Wear those disposable latex gloves under your regular winter riding gloves. It helps trap the heat it and goes a LOOOONNNGGG way towards keeping your fingers warm.

I'll ride down to 32° but after that I have a big newbee fear of ice..
As for cold hands I find a few seconds on the engine gets my gloves nice and warm. I'm riding a big space heater.. I'm going to use it.

It's not the cold that gets me here. We've had 4 inches of snow every day this month so far. While I am glad to go skiing tonight, it is hard on the wildlife...

34 Deg is my limit, I have been caught in the cold to many times in the past. I use Snowmobile gloves in the winter and they seen to work pretty good.
y wife got me a heated jacket liner for X-mas, what a wonderful thing it is. My morning commute is 65 miles one way and the heated liner really helps. Last Sunday I went for a ride up to the top of Mt Tamilpias in Marin County, got rained on like heck and the top of the mountain was frigging cold, but the jacket liner kept me warm.

Guess I'm just a wimp because below 55 degrees I'd rather take the car....
I think the liberals should promise to move the Earth closer to the Sun in the winter.....and visa versa......
