I just put my bike back together after painting it and doing some other misc. work and the left carb is leaking after starting the bike. I did not mess with the carbs at all and they were fine prior to taking the body parts off and rear tire. The fuel is coming out of the tiny hole that can be seen in the carb when the air filter is removed. The hole is located on the inside edge of the carb. I am not exactly sure the right terminology for the hole. Sorry for the bad diagnosis!

Sounds like with all the work you did to the tank, you might have broken some crud loose and it's made it's way down into that carb, jamming the float valve open. I'd take that float bowl off and have a look-see.

do you run a fuel filter? if you don't this should be enough reason to spend the $2.50 to put one in.

Well the fuel stopped leaking from that spot, so maybe it was just something causing the float to stay open. Now the bike is missing, bogging and backfiring (popping) under acceleration. You can see fuel coming out of the exhaust and smell it. What would be the cause of that? I am gonna pull the carbs and give them a good look over and cleaning.
