Does anyone know where I can get a pair of the rear shock lowering brackets? From what I can tell they are a hard part to get a hold of. They set the bottom mounting points farther back thus lowering the bike by I believe an inch. Any leads?

Those are only for rear drum set-ups, anything for rear disk?

I lowered mine an inch by cutting a bit of the spring off and heating and rebending the end and painted them black.......yea I know it shortens the travel a bit but it also lowers the ride for nothing...........xsjohn

Shortening a spring also increases its stiffness. This is an old racer's trick.
Best,

You can also just buy a shorter shock. I had to do this after I cut 2.5" out of my stock spring only to find out that the springs were no longer tall enough to keep the endcap on If you can find an 11 or 11.5" shock you'll probably be happy. Honda Rebel shocks are the ones to go for. I have heard th eones from the one cylinder suzukis are great too.

They're no longer listed on the JCW website. Know anywhere else to get them?
Maybe someone has a set they'd like to sell me?

I have a set.
They were on a bike I pulled out of the weeds about a year ago. While working on my '76 I took the frame to be sandblasted to a guy who lives on a farm just outside town and he had a '75 sitting in the weeds. It is mostly complete and the motor was seized. Now that I am done with the '76 I have managed to get the motor apart and I am now rebuilding it. I am going stock on this one so I will not be using the lower blocks. They are still on the bike but it is up on blocks with the tires already off so it won't be a big problem to get them off.

Georelle,
Just wondering if you sold the lowering kits? If I'd be interested.

Hey basketcase have you got any larger pictures of your ride uploaded? I'd like to see your bike better...

Tigerbass
Sorry I have already done the deal with Scotts.
I can take some pictures & measurements of them once I have them off the bike. I don't think they would be too hard to make. If JCW was selling them for $60.00 plus shipping I think a local welder could crank out a couple for way less then that.
