After buying the bike the horn worked fine and showed no signs of a short or faulty sound. One day it just stopped working. My fuses are okay, do you guys think it just blew out?

Put a voltmeter on the wires to the horn and blow it ... well, push the button ... any voltage?

On my '79, the horn quit working a day or two after it got wet -- that's if I washed the bike or if it rained or whatever. I'd always have to brighten up the connections and polish (sand) the place where it mounted to the bike (make sure of a good ground there).

Hold the button down and whack the horn with a screwdriver handle. That brings 'em back sometimes. The problem I had was always moisture and corrosion. I put a new horn on it once and had the same problem after a few weeks. There's also a nut in the center of the horn diaphragm. You can twist on that a little and sometimes get a result. One guy at a dealership told me once it helps to run heavier wires to the horn. Maybe he's right.

It's a mickeymouse problem that can also be a dangerous thing. When I ride, I always pretend that I'm invisible. Because I pretend that I'm invisible, I only HAVE to honk the horn about once a year. Problem is that when I honk the horn it's because I really NEED TO HONK THE HORN (life or death situation), and if it doesn't work, things can get really hairy. Ideally, I'd give it a long loud toot at least once a day, just to make sure it's working. I always promise myself I'm gonna do that, and then I forget to do it for weeks at a time.

Good luck.

might be the horn button and not the horn itself check it out with a meter, or bypass the button
