What length and brand shock is best for a cafe bike? I am looking for some good shocks for my cafe bike. I have heard Koni's were good shocks but try finding them.

you can go with redwing's with the oil reserve if you are looking for that real vintage look. try loadfastugly.com
Koni's are very good. You have to realize that like rubber any new shock you use aslong as it holds your weight will be better than most era hardware.
As to lenght I ran a longer swing arm than stock and I like the stock ride height so I run 13.5" shock which is on the longer side youhave to do what works for you.

good luck

Lengthwise, with a standard swingarm, 13" to 13.25" is good. If you don't mind spending the money, you can get Progressive shocks for the XS. Springs sold separately.

Being a cheap bastid, for my cafe project I'm looking at the set of shocks at MikesXS, stock number 06-3621. But I've been watching eBay as well. Never can tell.

Konis are rebuildable. So if you can find a set, it's worth considering. I see them on eBay from time to time. I'm assuming that "Ikon" will be able to supply the necessary wear components?

Best,

ichae

I have not done this on my XS yet, but on my Waterbuffalo, I put Hagon shocks that are 1.4" longer than stock and it handles much better. That is a recommendation that is widely made on the Kawasake triples forum to improve handling and it sure worked on the Waterbuffalo.

Just to follow up on the shock question I had. I ended up buying some redwing shocks 13". They have arrived but haven't been mounted yet.
