Howdy all,

Wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. I'm looking forward to talking with everyone.
I currently have an 81 XS650 that is need of some TLC. Not sure what I want to do with it eventually, but running would be the first order of business. I bought it off a friend at work. It's been in storage for some time so it will need some cleaning. I've saved a 78 KZ750 from a similiar fate, so I look forward to getting this beauty back on the road.

Thanks,
David

Hey David,

Drain and clean the tank, change the oil, thoroughly clean the carbs inside and out, install a new battery (if necessary), and chances are pretty good, I'll wager, that it'll fire right up. Try kicking it to life instead of using the electric foot, though. Those weak old ignitions usually won't have enough spark while the starter is cranking.

Best,

ichael

Great! Another XS owner in Columbus. This spring will be busy for you as Vintage bike stuff is getting much more popular around these parts.

Thanks for the welcome!
I mentioned to someone at work that I'm working on the 650 and they told me they have one buried in their garage. Made a deal with them and getting it for $200. It's an 1980. Not too bad at all. I know the PO tried to repaint with krylon, so it will need a strip and repaint.
