roy what do people use for mounting a fairing? I just finished mocking up a metal prototype. I can post pics tonight if you like. I am not sure what to use for mounting. currently it's made of galvenized but I was planning on using a heat gun to melt plexi to the shape and router the edges and tint it.
any help is appreciated. thanks kyle

Kyle; it depends on the fairing but most full body fairings have a tab welded to the neck of the frame and then mounts go to the fairing, (Small bracket try). then on the original exhaust brackets on frame. again small bracketry. and off the front mounts. Shur would like to see the finished product. I am dreaming about original vintage body work, PIPE DREAM cause I problably couldnt afford it any how.

YES I THINK YOU ARE DREAMING I did not get up to work on the bike last night I am going tonight I have to rework the battery box I made. It needs to be smaller. I will take some pictures.
I was thinking I could wled some non threaded aluminum rod to the back of the fairing and use a exhust bracket from mikes put one end between the front turn signals and the headlight bucket bring the other end thread the rod at one end and tighten it up to the other end of the bracket. I think it will be stable enough. I am going to have the fairing painted to match the bike and put a graphic on it.

ckeck out a super bike and see how they did it. Is this a full body fairing? They need to be secured pretty good you know. They have alot of force on them and move alot of air. Which puts added weight on the chasis. So what I am saying is think it over good and check out some bikes. They have to be pretty squarely mounted to the chasis too or the bike will tend to pull to oneside or the other. Somepeople dont even notice this but alot of supperbikes that have been down will pull to one side or the other slightly. and all that is wrong is rhe fairing bracketry is bent and twisted pulling on the frame. everything needs to fit flush and relaxed and square.
