What makes you gain 2" were some swing arms shorter than others on 650xs

If that TX750 is still around, score the swingarm from it. It will bolt right in and has nearly 1/4" larger diameter tubes so is much stiffer. It uses the old style 650 chain guard with the front pin and rubber grommet mount. The 750 rear wheel would also be a nice cafe part. It has a slightly larger diameter hub so you get a bigger brake.

Hey,I think roy fisk has the parts to complete your upgrade if you want a tx750.
I am happy with what I found with the later xs. you do get the large brake.which is a definate plus. But, remember it is easy to swap out rear wheel for your xs aslong as the spoke count is the same on the hub you want to use. anything else can be modified. I believe it's a 42 count If I remember correctly. But I am old like the rest of the crusty's roaming around this site.

I find I have compensated by upgrading the front to dual disk. I am not an aggressive rider so I stop just fine

the tx swing arm is shorter than the xs swing arm. I don't know about the sx swing arm. I can not besure if they changed in 73 or 75 when they changed the front forks to 35mm. but stock 73 tx swing arm is approximately 2 inches shorter than the 81 xs swing arm.

it changed betwwen 73/74 - 74 TX650A has the longer swingarm

swingarm numbers are the same 74 thru 79 changed in 80 and again in 81, but basic lenght was the same, minor differences won't stop interchange between years

I just got my solo seat from caferace inc on Friday and worked a good amount of the weekend on painting/mountig it and the new light. Here it is so far. I still need to make a pad for the seat. Anybody on here made a seat for a pan that isn't completely flat?

i finished the seat pad the other night. i made it out of luan, a gel yoga mat, some spray adhesive, velcro, staples and vinyl. It's not perfect but it'll do until I can work out a better way to do it. Here's a pic:

The pipes are raw steel as received from Omar's. Hope to have funds to jet hot them before I'm done. Otherwise, it's black paint....

Omar's is the best around. Nice, thick, durable......Phil is a great guy.....I recommend him to anyone....ask about the TT seat, it ain't shown on his website anymore I think......no wait, he's got em!!!!!! YYYYYYYYYYeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Yep, Hid glass stuff is very good. No bubbles or flaws, strong and well constructed. Exhaust system is nice. They give you some wimpy mount tab you're supposed to put under the factory peg mounts. I welded on some threaded bosses on the rear frame rail, and some beefy tabs on the mufflers. The other may have worked, but it just looked like it would fatigue and crack. He's a nice guy to deal with too-answers any questions you may have without making you feel stupid....
