Some may have seen from other posts but I am having a hech of a time getting my '79 Special to shift when hot. I've been repairing years of bad maintenance before I bought her. One question, doesn't the '79 have a 7 plate clutch? My bike has a 6 and I have one spare friction plate from when i ordered from Mikes. There doesn't seem to be enough room for another pair of plates. Would it create a lot of problems if someone put an 80s clutch in my 79? All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Jack

Same clutch.........Could try some different oil....Again.....Try using 1 qt Valvoline 100% synthetic mixed with 1 qt Valvoline Racing oil......both 20-50...Been using this combo for a year and don't even think about the clutch any more.......??????? autozone
