Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows the actual connection location and the color of the coil wires? I have a diagram, but it dosen't seem very acturate. If you want me to try to explain my confusion, then read on....

Ok, I have a 1975 XS650 with the original two coil system. I'm replacing the harness and the coils, but everything is factory replacements and they ARE the right parts. I have a wiring diagram for this year **BUT** my diagram shows a red with white stripe (RW) wire going to one side of the coil, and a black (B) wire going to the other side. But the wires hanging out of the coil is one orange (O) and one grayish brown (we'll call it GR)??? Which color hooks upto RW?

Now, the Harness has a RW wire with a dual female connector on it, and a O wire with a dual female, and a GR wire with a dual female.

The two black wires come for the condensor with male ends.

From the coil I have one O wire with a female end, and one GR wire with a male end.

From the points I have one GR wire with a male, and one O wire with a male. One side being O and the other being GR.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows the actual connection location and the color of the coil wires?

y diagram says that one black wire joins one of the point wires and then goes to the coil as black. that isn't really correct. My diagram also shows the condensor and the points to be one unit. I assume that one black wire joins a point wire at the dual female connection (in the harness) of that point wire color.

Example -
O wire from points plugs into O wrie of harness along with one of the black wires. Then GR wire from points plugs into GR wire of harness along with the other black wire.

THEN one wire from each coil plugs into the RW of harness. BUT WHICH WIRE FORM THE COIL?

this only leave a O wire and GR wire from the harness, I assume these wires corrospond with the O and GR wires of the points.

is this right?

I think I got it. I found a diagram on google. Does this sound right?

RW go to the brown wires of each coil.

the black wires connected with each one of the point wires, then the grayish brown goes to one coil and the orange goes to the other.

Right?

sorry if I confused anyone...

I believe you are right Creech. I just worked on my coils and I think thats what my notes say.. lol. I cant even read my own sometimes. Dont forget the condenser gets tied in together with the wires coming out of points to the coils.
