Hi all,
Quick question....installed my starter motor, which resulted in huge overnight oil leak....did I forget a gasket? What caused it?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
James

The starter sticks into a rather large oil seal with a funky outer lip. You may have buggered it up when inserting the starter.

I will reinstall it tonight. Hopefully I have not damaged it.

I did bugger the seal. I tried to remove the seal, and it does not want to come out! I damaged it more (wrecked it) in my attempt to remove it. Do I force it?
Help!

Haven't changed a starter seal yet, but you should be able to get a seal remover, it will have a hook on one end, and yank it out. The other option is to knock a screw driver around the outer lip, and pry it out. Be careful not to damage around the seal.

Thanks for reply. I wanted to be sure. I wil pick the seal puller tomorrow. I have chewed the part real good with my long nose plyers! Hopefully no damage. Isn't it funny that something so simple should be a problem.
Thanks
