Hey everyone, I'm Jason...21 years old just picked up a 1975 Xs650...my second bike (first was a 75cc 1979 Z50 minibike...2 years ago) I bought the XS sight unseen. My cousin found the bike for me in Edmonton and called me about it...parked for a year or two...needs a battery and carbs rebuilt. They couldnt get it started with the kicker and the carbs flooded immediately but i imagine the weak battery didn't help things. The starter switch didn't work.

I got it for 300 bucks...my cousin wanted to keep it for himself...i'm glad he's impressed. Going up this weekend to get it.

I've been researching these bikes for over a year now...couldn't pass this one up even though i've already got 2 model A's and my 64 Chev 1/2 ton daily driver to finish.

I'm planning a cafe style bike...tailsection/clubman bars/different tank/rear shocks/maybe a new front end (are the 34mm's flexy?) and of course the swingarm bushings, needle bearings for the steering head...carb rebuilt kit, k&N filters.

I'm an automotive apprentice for Toyota so i am going to do all the work myself. I cant wait to get it home...dad's excited...mom's not too happy.

Off to ask my first question...might as well ask it here too...

Where is the serial # or vin ?? Is is stamped on the frame below the "tag" he says the "tag" is blank but theres a stamped # below it.

Thanks guys

Oh and i'll have pics in the next few days sorry !!

So they look like aftermarket headpipes ?? Aren't those mufflers clamp ons or is that how the stock mufflers look ??

Congrats! The VIN is on the neck just in front of the gas tank and on the front lower part of the engine. These should match up.

Good luck. Let us know how you make out.
