Thought I would say hi, from British Columbia, Canada. Ride a 07 Deluxe HD, but I am on my way over to Salmon Arm to go take a look at a 1978 650 Yamaha with 4,500 miles on it. I have a few questions as to what I'm looking at and so on, so if anyone has any suggestions please feel free as I'm listening. This will be my wifes first ride and training vehical, but eventually it will be my hotrod. Is this a good first ride and what can I expect from it?

Lady's first bike - better off wiht a savage or a GS500.
Better suspension, tires and brakes as well as lighter and less quirky.

Of course tinkering the xs650 has no peer, or is that beer ? close enough.
