My '77 came with a mac 2 into 1 with a nice patina of rust and a terrible baffled chrome muffler. I'd really prefer a 2 into 2 setup both for the look and sound as well as the better lower end performance. Most would say that a 2 into 1 on these twins favors higher rpm power.But the budget for this fix up had me looking for a better muffler to fit the 2" outlet on the mac headers. And in the back of the garage was a 14"Supertrapp with the right size inlet on the 10" connector that I took off my nt650 Honda years ago, so I made a simple hanger and bolted it up. Tried several disc stacks and settled on 12 which gave a real decent bottom end and good roll-on power above 50 mph in top gear. (Supertrapp mufflers are those weird looking things with an end cap and a variable stack of spacer rings to let the gas out the sides) And the price was right!
