just picked up another xs650 need it like i need a hole in my head but could not turn it down 1980 with 11,000 miles off the road since 1991 for $80.00 so it was one i could not let go by. PROBLEM is pistons are frozen i believe guy has since lost the key for it, but when you hit the kick start nothing is moving, the kicker goes down with some resistence but does not move the pistons, i took the plugs out and tried but don't see or feel any thing that way either. also when it is put in gear and you turn the rear wheel all you get is a dull drag in all the gears, any thoughts or how to go bout fixin would be great

squirt in some penatrating oil and let it set for a week then try again, the kicker going thru slow/rear wheel drag is it just slipping the clutch, you will probably have to pull it down frozen pistons = valves will be stuck and will need work too

You sure the pistons are stuck?
gearbox & kickstarter both go through the clutch before they can move the crank......
