|
Ok just a quick question, i'm making my own hardtail and i'm wondering if anybody can tell me the angle of the bends in the 4 main pieces. I have seen the tc bros universal kit on ebay and all 4 angles are the same, just wondering what angle they are at(pic attached). I want to have my tubing bent and then cut it to length when I put it all together.
It looks like it is 150 degrees, or 30 degrees however you say it. Can someone confirm this?
Thanks for all the help guys.
Ps. So i dont get flamed, I WILL be having a professional tig welder doing all my frame welding.

the angle depends on how much ground clearance you want and the distance from the axle to the leading edge of the bend. There's a bit more to it than just throwing a bend in a piece of tubing.

Ya i agree with the questionable quality in the pics. Thats why im building my own. I understand what you are saying englishwheeler, i just figured that if I went with the same angle as in the universal kit that I could make it work. Oh well, I will just have to moke up the wheel where i want it and figure out the distances I want.
Thanks for the assistance felles

I sketched mine up with a pad of grid paper, a protractor, a compass, and a scale (engineering) ruler. Had fun doing it & got exactly what I wanted. It was about $25 worth of stuff from office max. You might want to give that a shot.

I like that idea, that way I can see what it looks like before I bend/cut the tubing. Good call nickmo!

Also I think it's just the picture that makes the tc bros tube look flat at bend, they do good work from what I've seen and would not let poor qaulity tube go out the door I would think? Here is mine before I put it together. p.s. mine is homemade so I have no first hand experience with tc bros.
