It is a cool seat, a little large in the ass for my taste but I think what bugs me most is the price.......you still have to paint and upholster it. You should check out the seats on clubmanracing.com or call up vintage cosmo and see if they have anything

I ended up getting it on ebay for less. Same guy, just sells em for less on ebay....then tacks on shipping. Not sure if he charges shipping on his website, but if he does it is cheaper to buy thru ebay. I'll let you know how it works out. I liked that it was designed specifically for the XS. Granted, not a 73...but I think it will still fit the 73 frame just as well. And it works with the OEM seat hinges. The only problem I can see thus far, is my battery might stick up too high. Either need to lower it or relocate it. Might lower it for now, then build a panel for it to sit under the seat in the back this winter. Far as upholstering it goes...might try and build my own seat pan and have a relative make a cover for it. Not sure yet LOL

So, this seat does not fit the 73 TX650...but fit's perfectly on 74 + bikes. The frames are different. Sucks that I bought it and now can't use it with out cutting it up. Does any one here wish to buy it? CafeRace said I could return it also for full return value, but I thought I would offer it here for $155 + 10 shipping first.

I suppose the seat can still be mounted the way other universal cafe seats are, by bolting it down to a frame crossmember or a flat piece welded in place?

If so, I might be interested, especially if you might be interested in a trade. I have a universal cafe seat I bought off ebay that fits over my '78's top frame rails with room to spare. I paid about $120 for mine, so we could do a trade + $$ if you have any interest.

PM me if you are, and I can send you photos of my seat.

Best,

Michael

I would guess it could. It has the spots to mount the stock hinge and clasp on it also
