Thanks to 650 rider forum contributors for good advice on many topics. The ’83 I bought is great fun to ride, especially after I installed the BS34 needle kit from xsjohn and changed out the buckhorn / roto-tiller style handle bars. It now has very good power and pulls strong right past 4000 rpm up to redline, it used to feel like the power flattened out above 4000 rpm. Great job on the needle kit, xsjohn. To all you contributors, God bless you for taking time to share experiences and information.
y bike is completely stock, I may eventually change the gearing to drop the rpm at highway speeds. Maybe some commando pipes and air intake mods as well. This XS650 is definitely a keeper! Tom
